Place Bellecour is the largest pedestrian square in Europe and the third largest square in France. It’s famous for its statue in the middle of Louis XIV by Francois-fréderic Lemot in 1825. On the west side of the square another statue can be sighted one of “The Little Prince” and his creator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry a famous French writer from Lyon who won several literary awards form France and the rest of the world. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry died in 1944 when his airplane was shot down.
